OLD MAN LOGAN: You owe me a new shirt.

PANEL FOUR

KRAVEN: You don’t disappoint...

PANEL FIVE
Same close-up shot, but the wound is rapidly healing.

PANEL SIX
Same close-up shot, and now the wound has completely vanished due to Kraven’s accelerated healing factor.

PANEL SEVEN
The two return to their fighting stances, ready to attack.
OLD MAN LOGAN: Since when do you heal?
KRAVEN: Long story. We can discuss it after I beat you.

PAGE FIVE: NINE PANELS

PANEL ONE
Kraven slashes at Old Man Logan’s chest but the X-Man barely sidesteps the attack.

PANEL TWO
While dodging Kraven’s attack, Old Man Logan elbows him in the back of the neck and the impact makes Kraven lose his grip on his knives and fall to the ground.
SFX: THUD

PANEL THREE
Kraven’s on the ground with one hand holding the back of his neck while Old Man Logan stands above him, ready to stab the downed villain.

PANEL FOUR
Kraven swiftly hits Logan in the stomach with a powerful kick, sending the X-Man flying towards a thick three that’s about ten feet away. While connecting with the kick, Kraven also uses his hands to grab the knives that fell next to him.

PANEL FIVE
Old Man Logan’s back smashes against the tree, visibly hurting him and damaging the tree’s trunk.
SFX: CRASH

PANEL SIX
Logan’s on the ground, with his back against the tree as Kraven leaps at him, ready to strike with a punch. Kraven’s knives have been equipped on his belt.

SFX: CRUNCH

PANEL EIGHT
Logan wipes the blood from his mouth as he gets back up.
OLD MAN LOGAN: Grrrr…

PANEL NINE
Kraven arrogantly taunts Logan while holding his two knives.
KRAVEN: Hahaha! Yes! Let loose, James!

PAGE SIX: TEN PANELS

PANEL ONE
Kraven narrowly ducks a slash from a berserk Logan.

PANEL TWO
While ducked under Logan’s attack, Kraven slashes Logan’s stomach with both knives.
SFX: SLASH

PANEL THREE
Unfazed by the attack, Logan strikes Kraven with a brutal headbutt, crashing his adamantium-laced skull against Kraven’s soft nose.
SFX: THUD
KRAVEN: Gah!

PANEL FOUR
Logan slashes again at Kraven, and the foe is barely able to block the attack with his adamantium knives. Kraven’s nose is still broken and bloody.

PANEL FIVE
When Logan slashes again at Kraven, the villain is able to sidestep the attack and counter by plunging one of his knives into Logan’s hip. Kraven’s nose has healed but the blood on his face remains.

PANEL SIX

While Kraven’s holding the knife in Logan’s side, the enraged hero slashes Kraven’s hand, forcing him to let go of the knife which is still stuck in Logan.
KRAVEN: Ah!

PANEL SEVEN
Kraven raises his other arm, ready to attack with his remaining knife.

PANEL EIGHT
Logan stabs Kraven’s wrist, forcing him to lose his grip on the knife.
KRAVEN: Gah!

PANEL NINE
Logan lunges at Kraven, imapling Kraven in the chest with all six of his adamantium claws and tackling Kraven to the ground while remaining on top of him.
KRAVEN: ARGH!
OLD MAN LOGAN: GRAAAAH!

PANEL TEN
Close-up of Kraven on the ground as Logan’s claws stab into the ground right next to his head.
OLD MAN LOGAN: Fight’s over, bub.

PAGE SEVEN: FIVE PANELS

PANEL ONE
Logan remains on top of Kraven, with one set of claws to the side of Kraven’s head, and the other set just inches from Kraven’s face. Kraven’s exuberant.
KRAVEN: Hahaha! Well played, James! Well played!

PANEL TWO
Old Man Logan stands up with a confused expression; Kraven begins to get back up and the wounds in his chest are quickly healing. All of the other wounds have healed.
OLD MAN LOGAN: You’re twisted.
KRAVEN: Am I? Did the thrill of that fight not feel great? It’s one of the best fights I’ve had in years! Thank you for this, James.

PANEL THREE
Kraven remains elated as he puts a hand on Logan’s shoulder. Logan looks uncomfortable.
OLD MAN LOGAN: Stabbing you did feel pretty good...
KRAVEN: I accept the outcome, James. You’re the best there is at brawling. But we both know if I didn’t limit myself to just two weapons, things would have played out quite differently. I’m the best there is at hunting. I’m satisfied knowing this.
OLD MAN LOGAN: Whatever helps you sleep at night.

PANEL FOUR
Logan swats Kraven’s hand off his shoulder.
KRAVEN: I’m a man of my word, James. You will never see me again.
OLD MAN LOGAN: Good. Listen, Kraven... Some fights ya win, some fights ya learn from. There’s always gonna be someone out there who’s better than ya. If ya think otherwise you’re gonna go mad.

PANEL FIVE
Kraven smirks as he begins to walk away.
KRAVEN: Take care, James.
OLD MAN LOGAN: You too, Jungle Book.

PAGE EIGHT: FIVE PANELS

PANEL ONE
Exterior of Kraven’s lavish apartment on a high-rise near Central Park.
CAPTION: An hour later.
KRAVEN FROM INSIDE THE APARTMENT: NO!

PANEL TWO
Kraven and Ana are standing in front of the TV, both holding video game controllers. The screen says “PLAYER ONE WINS FLAWLESSLY.”  Ana’s character, Ditko the Destroyer, has full health while Kraven’s character, Legendary Lemire, is laying on the ground. Kraven’s upset and Ana’s trying to contain her joy and not gloat in front of her father.
KRAVEN: Clearly there is something wrong with this controller!

PANEL THREE
Kraven crushes the controller.

PANEL FOUR
Kraven tosses the controller aside as he storms away.
KRAVEN: Tomorrow is a big day and we both need rest... Go to sleep, Ana!

PANEL FIVE
Now that Kraven has left the room, Ana grins from ear to ear.

Thank you so much for reading my Kraven fan fiction - I hope you enjoyed it! If I have time, I’ll continue Sergei and Ana Kravinoff’s journey. Follow me on Twitter and like the site's Facebook page for updates. Thanks again!

Obviously, these characters are property of Marvel Entertainment and this story is unofficial. I wrote this story just for fun, and hopefully you had fun reading it.

Comments

  1. You clearly understand Kraven and Wolverine and respected them both. Your story gave just the right amount of details to paint the picture in our minds and the fight was fun to "watch".

    1. Thank you very much! I have an idea for the next story, it's just a matter of fleshing it out and finding the time to write it. Thanks again for reading the story and sharing your thoughts - I really appreciate it!

  3. I remember your first draft of this back on CV and whilst the overall plot structure is still there, you've made some subtle changes this time around. Logan and Kraven both sound natural in their dialogue, Ana sounds more like a child than a murdering tool (which is a welcome improvement actually) the fight was satisfying and well choreographed from the description alone so a talented artist could do well with this outline. The ending was also a surprise and not one I really consider in Kraven's character but I understood why you put a more humorous, light hearted ending in the story. Maybe Kraven can be done well in light hearted situations, who knows. Overall a terrific ending to a confrontation you've wanted to happen (and were presumably disappointed by in the actual comic)

Comic Book Battles: Green Arrow vs Old Man Logan

For the second edition of Comic Book Battles (click here for the first fight), I thought it would be fun to use two heroes with completely different strengths and tactics: DC's Emerald Archer versus Marvel's Elderly X-Man!   Even in his old age, James ‘Logan’ Howlett, aka Old Man Logan, is tough to drop and he’s a talented brawler; however, his options in a battle are very limited. Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, may not be the best fighter in his universe, but he makes up for that with astonishing accuracy and cleverly using a variety of trick arrows that range from sonics to explosives. To better picture the entertaining encounter, imagine this fight takes place in a generic city setting. It’s nighttime, the street’s unpopulated (aside from the two heroes, of course), and they’ve spotted each other from a pretty good distance – let’s say 100 feet or so. This is a completely random encounter, meaning neither hero knows anything about their enemy – they’re from...

Comic Book Battles: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vs Kraven the Hunter

Sergei Kravinoff, aka Kraven the Hunter, prides himself on being the best hunter in the Marvel Universe. He loves nothing more than the thrill of the hunt and he’s set his sights on Spider-Man, Tigra, Black Panther, Daredevil, Black Widow, Scarlet Spider, and many others. What would happen if this formidable foe bumped into the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles from the IDW Publishing series, though? Would Kraven’s tactics allow him to defeat the four mutant brothers, or would the Heroes in a Half Shell take down Spidey’s savage villain? Will my favorite team or my favorite villain be left standing when the dust settles? To keep the fight as fair as possible, let’s imagine this encounter takes place in a generic city setting at night and, aside from the combatants, it’s unpopulated. This is a totally random encounter, meaning the two sides know nothing about each other and they’ll have to learn more about what they're facing throughout the brawl. The Ninja Turtles just know that...

Comic Book Conversations #9: Andrea Sorrentino

For the ninth edition of Comic Book Conversations, I’m thrilled to welcome Andrea Sorrentino to the interview segment! Best known for his work on Green Arrow, Old Man Logan, Gideon Falls, and I,Vampire, the artist shares details about his creative process, explains why he reads reviews of his work, and gives aspiring artists some great advice. Plus, he offers some insight into one of Old Man Logan’s unforgettable double-page spreads. Now, let’s get to know Andrea a little better! GREGG KATZMAN: When did you realize you wanted to become an artist and what inspired you? ANDREA SORRENTINO: I’ve always liked to draw, since when I was a kid. I clearly remember this drawing I did when I was at the primary school, I think it was an animal in a jungle, and everyone liked it so much that it remained hooked in our room for a while. I think that was the very first push I had to keep drawing. But talking about comics, I’m not sure. I grew up reading Disney comics during ...
